1983 - 1986: Australian Kung Fu Federation Limited
The AKWF was formed in 1983 following the amalgamation of various State Kung Fu Associations. Its original name was The Australian Kung Fu Federation which was later changed to the Federation of Australian Kung Fu and Wu Shu Organisations and then later changed to its current name the Australian Kung Fu (Wu Shu) Federation Inc..
 
1986 - 1993: Federation Of Australian Kung Fu and Wu Shu Organisations Limited
In 1986 the AKWF was recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the official provider of the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme for Kung Fu

In 1991 the AKWF was formally recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the official National Sporting Organisation representing Kung Fu/Wu Shu in Australia.
 
1993 - 2004: Australian Kung Fu (Wu Shu) Federation Limited
In 1994 the AKWF was admitted as the member representing Australia with the International Wu Shu Federation in Beijing and was instrumental in the formation and recognition of the Oceania Wu Shu Federation in 1998.
 
2004 - Present: Australian Kung Fu (Wu Shu) Federation Inc.
Our organisation has conducted accreditation intakes for over 2000 kung fu instructors since 1986 and has been crucial in Australia's support for Wu Shu to be introduced into the Olympics in 2008.


OFFICE BEARERS/ELECTIONS

The AKWF is an incorporated non profit sporting association, all of our Office bearers are unpaid volunteers that are currently elected every 24 months by a vote of all members.

Our accounts are audited every 12 months and any member can view our accounts at our registered office.

The organization is governed by a National Executive. Each State and territory is locally managed by an appointed Administrator or by an Administrative Sub Branch. The method of local management is one that is decided by vote of the members of each State or Territory.

Since its inception the following persons have been elected and served in an Executive capacity.
